Kara Wilkerson is a designer and showroom manager at Westend Luxury Home Gallery. She has been with the firm since Westend’s launch in 2007. Kara’s background includes two degrees encompassing horticulture and landscape design. She also owned a landscape design company for over 15 years. Kara’s design skill and keen eye have enabled her to easily segue from exterior to interior design.
Architecture, scale, and lighting are the key components that drive her designs. Her approach, as a whole, is to provide the client with an environment that is appropriate for their needs and respectful to the architecture. She prefers unencumbered backgrounds with clean lines and an unexpected use of texture. Kara’s design philosophy has always been about problem solving and functionality. It is Kara’s hope that each project will address the client’s tastes and requirements and in turn provide them with a timeless and enduring design; a design that is never static and conveys their own design sensibilities.
“ Design is a process…a continuum of ideas, style, and visions that impact not only the eye but the way we move through our environments. It is a melding of personal tastes and aesthetics that reflects the uniqueness of each individual. The key to its success lies in the communication between designer and client. This ‘dialogue’ is the foundation to any project I approach. I am classic with a modern edge and enjoy designing rooms that unfold in subtle layers.”
